Adolescent & Adult: Assessment

We offer assessments for adolescents and adults who stutter. This usually takes an hour.

The assessment will involve:

  • A supportive environment where you can speak about your goals
  • Brief education on what stuttering is and what causes stuttering
  • Learning about your current living situation, health, education, work, hobbies etc.
  • Understanding your stuttering history including past therapy, and the impact of stuttering
  • A short observation of your speech
  • Discussing your motivation and whether now is the right time for therapy
  • A collaborative, evidence-based plan on the next steps

For adolescents, we ask that parents attend the whole assessment session.

For adults, you are welcome to attend by yourself, or with a loved one present if you prefer.

We offer assessments for adolescents and adults at our Telehealth Clinic and our Melbourne Clinic. If you wish to learn more about our clinics, please click here.
