Merrin holds a Masters of Speech Pathology from the University of Melbourne. Merrin has a background in both music and education being a singer and voice teacher. Since becoming a speech pathologist, Merrin continues to enjoy the diversity of working in both fields. In her early career, Merrin saw a wide range of clients with stuttering, speech and language difficulties, complex communication needs, swallowing disorders, Autism Spectrum Disorder, selective mutism, and foetal alcohol syndrome. Since then, Merrin has focused predominantly on stuttering and has trained in the Lidcombe program.
Merrin believes in a collaborative, evidence-based approach with goals that suit the client and their broader family context. She also believes in the importance of fun and play in therapy for children.
She is committed to lifelong learning, and frequently attends workshops and conferences on stuttering. She is also a member of the Victorian Stuttering Interest Group and a Certified Practising Member of Speech Pathology Australia.
Merrin consults Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays.
