Your TelePractice Session

What is a telepractice session like?
Telepractice consultations are very similar to in-clinic sessions. The Lidcombe and Camperdown programs have been adapted for telepractice, and these programs are followed with minor modifications. Most tools used in clinic, for example digital recorders on phones or tablets are used in both in-clinic and telepractice sessions.
This published interview  provides insights on doing the Lidcombe Program by webcam. It is authored by Dr Shane Erickson, who consults at our centre.

How should I choose between Skype and Telephone?
Your choice of delivery method may be influenced by the program you require, your comfort and experience with computers, and cost factors.
  • The Lidcombe Program should be administered over platforms such as Zoom or Skype, because best results will be achieved if the clinician can hear and observe the child and parent.
  • The Camperdown Program can be administered over webcam platforms or phone. For those who feel comfortable with computer technology, webcam offers advantages over the phone because it is free and can make vision possible. However, for those who feel less comfortable with computers, treatment over the phone has proven effective.
